Ardan Michael Blum & Editorial Policy - About Gstaad.Events
I am Ardan Michael Blum, the editor and publisher of Gstaad.Events. I lived in Geneva for 30 years and return regularly to Gstaad, Saanen, and Lenk. I launched this site in July 2026.
My interest in the region extends from concerts and village events to its history, farming, architecture, and everyday life. The site brings those subjects together with practical information for people planning a visit.
My Long Love of Gstaad
My connection with Gstaad goes back to childhood. At that age, I knew Gstaad through the people we visited and the time we spent there. It was somewhere familiar, a place connected with family friends and summer visits, and somewhere I was happy to return to. My affection began with that simple experience. Knowing the region in winter added another dimension to a place I had first encountered largely in summer. Over the years, I came to know its villages, paths, hotels, and mountains more closely. What had begun as a childhood destination gradually became a landscape I could recognize and find my way through.
My attachment also extends beyond Gstaad village. The surrounding villages and countryside are part of what makes returning so rewarding. Each visit offers the possibility of going back to a familiar place or paying closer attention to somewhere I have previously passed through. Lenk, in particular, remains a favorite place for long summer walks.
Long familiarity encourages curiosity. I want to understand what is happening in the region, how it is changing, and how its different communities fit together. Returning over many years gives me a personal connection to those questions, while leaving plenty to discover.
That curiosity is part of the reason I started Gstaad.Events. I wanted a simple way to keep track of events and local developments, gather useful information, and understand the area better. Writing about a place asks me to look more carefully at it: to check a venue, distinguish one village from another, or investigate something that might otherwise remain a passing impression.
The website grows out of affection, but also out of a wish to be useful. I hope it helps readers discover something worth attending, explore a little farther, or better understand a region they already enjoy. Preparing it gives me another reason to keep learning about a place that has accompanied me through much of my life.
More than four decades after those first drives from Geneva, Gstaad still holds a special place in my heart. Childhood memories are part of that love, and so are everything I have learned and enjoyed there since. I still love this little town with all my heart, and Gstaad.Events is one way of giving that enduring affection a practical expression.
